Originally from East Texas, David Reittinger moved to Vail in 2012 to fulfill his ski bum fantasies. After plenty of powder days and frosty mugs, he put down roots in Leadville, where he’s built a little mountain family of his own.
David’s hospitality roots go back to a small market and café in rural East Texas, where Friday night fish fries brought the whole town together. Over the years, he worked his way through a variety of jobs before discovering that restaurants were where he belonged. After moving to Colorado, he bartended at Coyote Cafe in Beaver Creek, worked at Woody’s in Edwards, and spent 10 years at Kirby Cosmo’s BBQ Bar in Minturn. He eventually found his way to Mountain Standard, drawn by the opportunity to grow his career alongside a team that shares his passion for hospitality.
For David, the best part of the industry is being part of a memorable guest experience and getting to know the people who walk through the door. When he’s not at work, you’ll find him enjoying mountain sports and the outdoors with his two girls, followed by a great meal with the family. He’s also a sucker for a beautifully plated dish, a perfectly paired beverage, a fun theme, and a garnish that ties it all together.
