Freddy Pixtun, originally from Garden Grove, California, joined the Mountain Standard leadership team in December 2024.
While Pixtun joined Mountain Standard as a Dining Room Manager, he has a diverse career in the culinary industry. He attended Le Cordon Bleu in Pasadena and was later a sous chef at a restaurant in Costa Mesa, California. It was here that he was inspired to head to Colorado by one of his cooks. He moved to Eagle County on December 13, 2013.
In addition to being a sous chef, Pixtun worked as a server at Toscanini, Zach’s Cabin, Vin48, and Beaver Creek Chophose (where he also was a manager). He was also a cook at Craftsman, Vin48, Sweet Basil, and Angels Stadium in Anaheim. For the last 6 years he had a career in fly fishing with Vail Valley Anglers.
When asked what inspired him to work in restaurants he said “My grandmother was the best cook and host I've ever met in my life. I learned how to treat people and welcome them into my home so I feel like that translates into restaurants.”
Outside of the restaurant, you can find Freddy fishing, white water rafting, cooking, snowboarding and attending as many concerts as he can afford. Specifically he wanted to mention “The Grateful Dead is the best band to ever walk this earth. Jerry Garcia was a gift from god. Widespread Panic is the best band on tour currently. And may the bluegrass flow as free as the Eagle River. I love music!”
