Rachel Martin, originally from York, Pennsylvania, joined the dining room management team of Mountain Standard in November 2024. Starting with Sweet Basil in 2022 as a server and then bartender, she loved seeing the passion behind what the chefs and bartenders created.
Martin attended Temple University in Philadelphia for Marketing. In 2021, she spontaneously moved alone to Vail for more time outdoors. She lived and worked at Piney River Ranch in the beginning and quickly decided to stay.
When asked about her previous experience in the food and restaurant industry she states that she has worked in restaurants since 2018, but nothing compares to the Mountain Standard and Sweet Basil experience. Part of what brought her to Sweet Basil originally was the presence of both restaurants in the Vail valley.
Outside of work you can find Rachel diving into her hobbies of photography, graphic design, snowboarding, hiking and camping (especially with her dog and boyfriend). She is very passionate about integrating her creative side with food and beverage and hopes to combine the two fully one day.
She adds “I love working for a company that has taught more than I can imagine and hope to keep sharing my knowledge with everyone around me!”
